sounds like alot of work… you should check out my redneck garbaage disposall system…. much less labour intensive.

@nosaeRfOecioV they also have a ptrap that u can just screw and unscrew. all u need is one of those traps, and an 1 1/2 disanco. 2 joins. My parents had all slipjoints under their sink, it would all always come loose

@plumbercrack333 Slip joints work well, and are easy to remove when your wife’s ring falls down the drain. In fact the slip joint crap is required by code in some locals.

Who wants to cut out glued PVC when one can simply use twist-locks?

Awesome – I was stuck on the part where you have to put the screwdriver in the flange and twist out the unit. (My wife put a ton of carrot shreds down our disposal and it got backed up) Thanks for the video!

i dont understand, every video ive seen on here all the drains r this slip joint crap. why not just hard pipe it?

What is the best method for removing the retaining´╗┐ ring? and i don’t have a Proto Snap Ring Pliers Retaining Ring Pliers Plier 399

I have done all of this, had to replace the whole thing including the sink flange but it still leaks – have re-done it twice…

Umm, what about turning of the electric first?

  9. |

Thank you Michael. I didnt know how to take my old one off. It was easy after watching this video.

  10. |

    Thanks man

  11. |

    i dont think i would be sticking my fingers in there with the electric still hooked up ={

  12. |

Great instructions, appreciate the tip. Installed a new one and worked like a dream!

  13. |

    Thanks basic to the point

  14. |

    absolutely disgusting

  15. |

Yeah what to turn to get it off, that screwdriver turn spot, very helpful. Thanks.

  16. |

yeah, what 3rdAxis said….. I’m have a heck f a time getting that mounting ring off….. I definitely don’t wanna pay anyone to come out and do it for me.

  17. |

Thanks alot….After I saw this vid it took me all of about 30 secs to get my disposal back in.

  18. |

    WHEW, thanks!!

I think that it may be a wrap for my disposal unit. The disposal broke away from the base of the sink, the neck is jagged and corroded but it runs fine. I doubt that I wil be able to remount it, there isn’t much to fasten to. It had been drip’leaking for some time. Should have sought you out sooner.

I’m guessing that the fact that the only lighting in the video is a flashlight means the power is off.

    That’s called being a man.

  22. |

I love how this guy sticks his hand in the garbage disposal and moves the blades around WHILE it is still plugged in. lol…

  23. |

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I needed to get that bugger out. I wasn’t sure how to remove it from the sink. (I already had everything else disconnected.) It took me about 30 seconds.

  24. |

Wish mine pulled out as easily as yours. I had to spray the rubber gasket with lots of WD-40 before the flange would turn. Thanks for showing everyone this video, it kept me from pulling my hair out.
