21 Nov 11 Spyderco Sage 2, Titanium Handle, CPM-S30V, Limited Run

A Sage is someone wise in judgment and experience. It’s reasonable assuming they achieved that title through trial, error and extending their best effort at every opportunity. If that definition can be applied to something tangible it would be an item created from experience and striving for quality and performance at the highest level. If said item were a pocketknife we could call it a Sage. The C123 Sage represents Spyderco’s 30-year pledge to knife crafting and learning to make better knives at every available opportunity. The plan is to offer an ongoing series of Sage Folders with many of the different and ingenuous locking devices and mechanisms the knife industry has to offer. This model is in recognition of knifemaker Chris Reeve’s efforts and contributions to the folding knife industry and are honored to create a Sage in his honor. The Spear-Point shaped CPM-S30V blade is flatground and is a coalescence of Spyderco’s Caly3 and Native models in shape and function. The handle is all screw construction 6A14V titanium. Inside are phosphor bronze washers for smooth open/close. A silhouette wire clip snugs down deeply in a pocket and adjusts for left/right-hand carry. Jimping covering the spine and finger choil stop slipping and sliding. Overall Length: 7-1/8 in. Blade Length: 3 in. Weight: 3.4oz Price: 9

im goin to get a sage 2

I would own this knife if it were US made. Even Japanese made would be better. I don’t care if the quality is the same even though it’s made in Taiwan. It’s a “perceived quality” issue for me. I wouldn’t buy a 140 dollar knife if I wanted a regular user knife. It’s a collector item, and being US made adds to the “second type of cool” as nutnfancy would say.

    Should I get a Sage 1 or 2?

  5. |

@STarFishUltra It’s all about materials and craftsmanship

  6. |

    5 people couldn’t get a spyderco sage 2 titanium

  7. |

@STarFishUltra The materials in more expensive knives are much much better. The Tenacious is G10 and 8Cr13MoV, right? The blade will dull faster, although it will take an edge easier. G10 is relatively fragile. One wrong drop and it could crack. The Sage 2 is S30V and Titanium. S30V was made for knives (So great edge retention and strength) stays sharp, but is harder to sharpen. Titanium is amazing. Light, strong, durable. You get what you pay for. Tenacious is great! But the Sages are better.

why should I pay $150 for a sage when I got my tenacious for only $30? I mean, is it really that much better? They look almost the same…

  9. |

    2 dollar suitcase. LOL!!!

  10. |

I don’t know what it is about your camera or the acoustics of the rooms you record in, but your Titanium Sage sounds much cooler than mine does when you open it. Either way, it’s a great knife, I’ve got nothing but praise for this knife.

  15. |

I just ordered a titanium sage last night. I cant wait.

  16. |

@exsigint Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching. The Sage is truly a great EDC blade. You will love the Paramilitary also.

  17. |

Blaze: Just picked up a carbon fiber Sage; and now I’ve got to get a titanium-grip Sage. GREAT KNIFE! Of all the knives that I own, this is by far the best EDC for me. Lies flat in one’s pocket, has a simple and practical design both aesthetically and mechanically, and exceptional blade steel. I’m thinking about a Para-Military, but the Sage has set the standard for me. Lovin’ the Sage! Thanks for informative videos, appreciate all that you do.

  21. |

Just got Sage 2. It is SWEET, just like you say! 😉 It is the most elegant Spydie I have so far. And, it really does flick open like an auto… better than an auto, actually. Got a Sage 1 on the way.

  22. |

I ordered a sage 2 yesterday (along with a kershaw od-1). I am looking forward to getting it,

  23. |

@trailer701 Sage 3 will feature a Blackie Collins Bolt Action locking mechanism which is sorta operates like an axis lock. doubt they will ever use and axis lock since Benchmade owns the patent and it doesn’t run out until 2020.

  24. |

@thecajunblaze If it’s more expensive I will contact them.

  25. |

@jrmym2 So are you sending it back, or will you keep the Sage 2? I think the sage2 is more expensive.
