dacor-discovery-iq-wall-oven.jpg

The 30″ Discovery IQ wall oven comes with the integrated controller, built on a Samsung 1GHZ processor and 512MB DDR2 RAM. The first Dacor oven to feature Wi-Fi connectivity, the Discovery IQ brings the latest technological advances for the kitchens running on the Android OS platform. The unique controller is also equipped with stereo sound and a PowerVR SGX 540 graphics processing unit, delivering an exciting multimedia experience through a 7″ LCD glass touch screen panel.

The Discovery 30″ wall oven belongs to Dacor 9th generation of 30″ built-in ovens. The graphic user interface is easy to use. It was developed in close collaboration betwenn Dacor and BMW Group DesignworksUSA. With the built-in Discovery IQ Controller you can access the Dacor Discovery IQ Cooking Application and Guide, while in the same time downloading other popular applications through the Google Play Store, researching new recipes or viewing cooking video demonstrations through a home Wi-Fi network.

The Discovery IQ Controller with interactive cooking application and guide can also be accessed remotely throughout the home with your Wi-Fi enabled tablet or smart phone. Built-in cooking guide allows the IQ to completely eliminate the guesswork when cooking everything from restaurant-grade meals to family recipes, empowering you to make a wide range of dishes to perfection with the simple touch of a finger. Just select the desired recipe from the display menu, insert the dish, initiate the program and relax as the oven takes care of the rest. And when the desired cook time is reached, the oven will place the dish on warming mode, keeping food warm until ready to serve.

Once a dish is ready to serve, the IQ will notify you via text message or push notification. Should the wall oven encounter a problem or require maintenance, IQ will notify you with an error message and an automated report will be sent to Dacor for troubleshooting. To ensure optimal IQ and oven performance levels, automatic system updates and self-diagnostics will be downloaded directly to the IQ Controller via Wi-Fi from the Dacor server.

Some of the core features of the 30″ Discovery IQ wall oven are,
– Guided Cooking, Quick Start Guide, My Modes, Slow Cook Mode, Personal Recipe Storage
– 4.8 cu. ft multirack oven with GlideRacks to move heavier dishes in and out

25 Oct 11 Garbage Converted to Fuel, Discovery in Czech Republic

WONG: Czech scientists are carrying out a unique experiment of international importance. They have found out how to change household waste into food for animals and fuel for cars. STORY: Experts in algae and energetic use of wastes have designed a scientific process to transform municipal waste into bio-fuel for cars and good class food for animals. The star performer in the process is algae. Certain algae thrive on the carbon dioxide formed while burning the waste. [Msc Petr Novak, Director for Ecology] male “We were of course surprised too, the quality of algae is so high that they are suitable for utilization in the food-processing industry and at the same time it is confirmation that burnt gas from our wastes incinerator is very clean. As wastes are burnt the smoke-gas goes through a filter and heads for a water bath where scientist have placed algae. Algae transform the burnt gas into protein and from protein they make starch. This starch is used in the production of bio-ethanol to be used in place of petrol. [Petr Novak, Director for Ecology] male “The effect lies mainly in that carbon dioxide forms as much as 50 percent of expenses in the production of algae and here it is actually for free.” Moreover the algae grow 30 times faster than maize or soy from which bio-fuel is commonly produced. The Scientific team will patent their discovery in Europe and the USA. NTDTV, Liberec, Czech Republic

12 Oct 11 Land Rover Discovery 4 / LR4 Off Road Test

The fourth generation Discovery 4 was launched in 2009, and went on sale in the United Kingdom on 1 September. Compared with the 2.7 litre TDV6 engine, which continues to be offered on the Discovery 4, the new TDV6 3.0 litre twin turbo diesel engine delivers a 9% fuel economy improvement (EU combined cycle) and 10% lower CO2 emissions, at the same time as increasing power by 28% to 241 bhp (180 kW); torque increases 36% to 600 N·m (440 lb·ft). The results include a 060 mph time of 9.0 seconds, (0100 km/h in 9.6 seconds), a 24% improvement over the 2.7 litre model. The new engine has been optimised for low-end torque as well as economy, making it possible to activate the lock-up clutch of the ZF HP-28 automatic transmission at lower speed. This reduces ‘slip’ in the hydraulic torque converter improving both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The higher torque at lower engine speeds also enables longer gearing for more economical cruising. Land Rover’s engineers have also transformed the on-road ride, handling and off-road capabilities. The changes include new suspension components, revised steering, larger brakes, improved traction control, and enhancements to the Terrain Response system, which helps optimise the vehicle for different on-road or off-road driving situations. The exterior design of the Land Rover Discovery 4 has been updated, most obviously with smoother and simpler surfaces at the front, including a new, more aerodynamic bumper. www.prestigevillasoverseasproperty.co.uk Telephone 01698 803 920 Freephone 0800 634 9661 http Mixing traditional beauty with contemporary style, these villas would not look out of place in Malibu. Think pastel-coloured paintwork, long rectangular windows and pillared doorways. On the outside, all the houses look identical. But step inside and youll see that each one has got its own unique charm. Theyre all decorated slightly differently with cool white walls and splashes of colour. What they have in common, though, are large open-plan lounge-kitchens with all the latest mod cons like air-conditioning, DVD players and dishwashers. The villas themselves are all set around a large communal pool. Theres a small childrens pool, too, not to mention a sunbathing area complete with sunloungers and parasols. And because these villas are part of a complex, you get some added extras that you wouldnt normally find. Theres a daytime bar, for example, as well as 24-hour security. But perhaps the best thing about this place is that you can use all the facilities at the neighbouring Orka Hotel. There are three restaurants for you to choose from, as well as seven bars. The Orka also has its own health club, where you can pamper yourself in the Turkish bath or choose from a great selection of spa treatments. These villas will provide you with an excellent rental income.
