18 Nov 11 The Energy Smart Unit Demonstration

The Energy Smart Unit™ reduces the amount of power drawn from the utility by storing otherwise lost electricity (kWh, kW, or kVA) caused by the inductive motors in your home. Some examples of inductive motors are air conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, pool pumps, vacuum cleaners, furnace blower motors, fans etc. Commercial units are great for buildings larger than 2500 square ft. The technology applied by Energy Smart Unit™ supplies the stored electricity back to your inductive loads, causing you to decrease your demand (kW or kVA) from the utility. As demand is decreased, you pull less electricity from the utility company. This is reflected by the slower movement and lower volume of consumption (kWh) on your meter. You pay for the electricity flowing through your meter, why pay for it and waste it, when you can pay for it, store it, and reuse it again. This whole process is called power factor optimization. The amount of saving on your energy bill depends on many factors. The size of your home, the amount of inductive motor load, and the amount you are paying per kilowatt-hour for electricity etc. Users of this product have generally seen anywhere from 10 to 50% in reduced consumption, but the average savings reported have been in the 10% to 25% range.

19 Oct 11 Smart roofs for a sustainable city- Managing climate change

Since roof areas of cities in India tend to be under designed and sterile zones what can be done on the roof to make it ‘productive’? The list goes like this – Harvest rainwater from the roof as a catchment – Harvest the sun using cookers, water heaters and photovoltaics – Grow food like rice and vegetables – Treat greywater using plants – Build an eco-san toilet to nourish the crop It seems if you have 50 square metre per person in India you could do a tremendous job for water, food, energy and ecological security.

16 Aug 11 Why Data Matters: IBM Leads Data Analysis in the Decade of Smart Data is present in all the systems and processes in the world. IBM helps analyze this multitude of information to make intelligent decisions, while enabling business efficiency and adding value to many industries. Today, intelligence is being infused into the systems and processes that make the world work into things no one would recognize as computers: cars, appliances, roads, power gridseven clothing and water. Trillions of digital devices, connected through the Internet, are producing an ocean of data. All this information from the flow of markets to the pulse of societies can be turned into knowledge. Because we now have the computational power and advanced analytics to make sense of it. With this knowledge, we can reduce costs. Cut waste. Improve the efficiency, productivity and quality of everything from companies to cities. The signs of a smarter planet are all around us. Smarter systems are creating value in every major industry. Across every region in both the developed and developing worlds. In over 400 cities last year, smart traffic systems reduced delays by more than 700000 hours. Saving each city nearly 15 million dollars. In Washington, smart grid and meter systems saved citizens 10% on their energy bills and cut power usage by 15%. Hamburg has smart healthcare. Madrid has smart public safety. Galway has smart water. Smart supply chains are cutting retailers costs by 30%. Reducing inventory levels by 25%. Increasing sales by 10%. Banks and

03 Jul 11 Pacific Grove, Monterey J1 – “The Problems with Smart Meters” Wildlife & Humans

There are other issues that concern our wildlife, and the effects of being surrounded with a canopy of EMF that will surround bugs, butterflies, pets from the installation of Smart Meters and the broadcast receiving towers. This is an excellent book “Birds, Bees and Humans” by Mark Ulrich, and is available here. It is a German translation in 2010 and the research in it is amazing. All navigational creatures, bees, bats, and butterflies like our Monarch Butterflies in the Pacific Grove, CA Monarch Grove Sanctuary, is magnetite. Their magnetite allows these creatures to navigate in reaction to the fluctuating electromagnetic fields of the earth, like coming storms. Magnetite is like having another ear so that they can react appropriately. When we create artificial EMF’s it is louder than the natural EMF’s of the planet. One of the reasons cell phone technology works is that they are louder, and will overpower the earth’s natural frequencies, they override it, and they are above it. When we do that, we make these guys (navigational wildlife), work a whole lot harder to know where they are going. There are things like sudden hive collapse where the bee’s just didn’t come back. One of the things EMF’s can do in creatures and humans is upset the nitrous oxide system, and in bees this system is part of their learning, smell and immune system. There are many parallels to the human system as well. When sudden hive collapse as well as immune disease problems bees began, the
